ABOUT AUSTEN WAYNE
I spent years trying to figure out where I belonged.
Music was always there. I started behind a drum kit as a teenager, played in bands, learned piano, and eventually found my way into writing and producing hip-hop. For more than twenty years, music never left my life. But somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that the responsible path was somewhere else.
So I built a career in corporate America.
On paper, life looked successful. Inside, something always felt unfinished.
Over the last several years, life began stripping away everything that wasn’t really me. Loss. Heartbreak. Childhood wounds I could no longer outrun. A layoff that forced me to stop asking what I should do and start asking what I couldn’t stop being pulled toward.
Then country music found me.
It became the place where I finally felt at home. The storytelling. The honesty. The imperfections. The quiet strength. It wasn’t about sounding like someone else, it was about finally sounding like myself.
Around that same time, I lost my pup, Archie.
Archie was the most present soul I’ve ever known. His life, and losing him far too soon, changed the way I look at everything. I made him a promise that I would do my best to live the way he did: fully present, open-hearted, and without pretending to be anything I wasn’t.
These songs are part of keeping that promise.
I’m not chasing a version of who I think an artist is supposed to be. I’m simply writing the songs that feel true. Some are quiet. Some are gritty. Some are hopeful. Some hurt. But every one of them is rooted in the belief that stories have the power to remind us we’re not alone.
If my music feels like a conversation on a front porch, a long drive with the windows down, or the words you needed to hear after a hard season, then it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.
I’m grateful you’re here.
Welcome home.
